A guide to reading the III Libro Blanco.

Six chapters connecting science, society and sustainability.

Editorial review: 28 October 2026

The starting point

The supplied document is the 24 June 2025 pre-publication layout of Libro Blanco de las Nanotecnologías (III). Construyendo un mañana sostenible, coordinated by Jordi Díaz Marcos, Joan Mendoza Gonzálvez and Pedro A. Serena Domingo. It is a different source from Pedro Serena’s presentation at AESAN on 8 April 2025.

What we know

Chapter 1 sets the scene for science, policy and society. Chapter 2 covers nanomaterials; chapter 3, energy; chapter 4, water, the environment and agri-food; chapter 5, nanomedicine; and chapter 6, information and communication technologies. This website starts with fundamentals, water, energy, circularity and digital technology.

Questions to ask

The executive summary proposes action on research, education, infrastructure, knowledge transfer, safety and communication. These are strategic proposals: their inclusion in the book does not demonstrate that they have been implemented. Page numbers in the supplied PDF may differ from the final edition.
